Has anyone thought of a way to make the iBook span vs. mirror on an outboard display? If this this is a stupid q? please disregard.

I think I saw once a guy who tried to hack it. Technically, ATi 128 suppose to support mirroring and dual-monitoring. However, the person failed miserably... I can't remember where I saw this... may be www.ibookzone.com . Not really sure though.

While the Rage M3 is technically capable of spanning, you'll notice under the Apple System Profiler that the card name is "RageM3p29s" (the code name for the new iBook was p29). This suggests to me that Apple had ATI produce a modified version of the M3 disabling those features Apple did not want to provide in it's "consumer" notebook. I'll bet a hack is not possible...
