So what does everyone think, should I do it? Does it do more harm than good? I'm in 10.2.2 now...

It all depends on your system. If it's one of the latest G4s, go for it. It's great on my DDR 867 so far. If you have an older system like a Beige G3, check around first. All seems fine so far though.

It still is too soon to tell. If you're unsure wait for a little bit. I've been using 10.2.3 since the upgrade yesterday. I've been surfing the web, using Word, and listening to my mp3s, and also using Duality to skin my interface. So far no problems.

Doesn't the rule, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" apply here? If you can make a restorable backupof your current setup, go ahead and try it. As long as you know you will have to reformat your drive to restore 10.2.2, fine (Use Carbon Copy Cloner).

If there are improvements in 10.2.3 (according to apple and others) that you need or desire, do it.

If you are happy, stay with what you have and wait for 10.2.4.

Half the fun of OS X is updating the OS and having a clean slate in the Software Update pane.

Do it, live a little.

I just upgraded and VPC 5 is useable now
Actually I'm posting from IE on VPC 5.
Apparently, you don't need VPC 6 for the 25% speed increase

I've upgraded and I notice absolutely no change in the function of the OS. The *only* difference I have noticed so far is the appearence change of the three widgets in iChat. That's it.

I noticed the improvement in QuickTime Instruments. The excessive reverb is gone when I play Sibelius files.

I just upgraded to 10.2.3 on my Pismo 400 with 768 megs of RAM...

Hey, it's fairly snappier. Before you get on me for using 'snappy', listen up:

1. Option clicking Adium's icon to hide the current application and move to Adium displays all my open IM windows quicker.

2. Applications are launching in 2 or 3 fade-in fade-outs... (I turn bouncing off)

3. Windows are geniing smoother than ever.

4. Scrolling in Chimera is smoother, it's nice and fluid. Also, I just noticed as I was typing this post: Typing in textareas on web pages isn't painfully slow anymore.

Call me a troll if you will, but 10.2.3 has made OSX a little more bearable on this old G3.

Do what you feel comfortable doing. To share my experience, the update has made the system work better than ever and I've witnessed no disadvantages or problems in going to 10.2.3 on both my 500MHz Rev.A TiBook and my newer GigaBook. Open/Save dialogs work better, scrolling is smoother in a number of apps, including Chimera and in Netscape 7.0.1, switching between apps is faster; and everything feels snappier, particularly on the 500MHz machine. YMMV.

If you have a Powerbook, and you care about smooth video refresh, then *NO*.

10.2.3 breaks VBL on my 800Mhz TiBook, all window dragging, scrolling, and Zoom In mode is very choppy now.

I went to the Apple store today to test this on other machines. Most of them were not running 10.2.3 yet. Another 800 Mhz Tibook there has the same problem. A 1.25 MDD G4 did not, it was still smooth on a 23" Cinema display.

I have to agree 10.2.3 is a good update. Finally my PowerBook goes to sleep even when I have Filesharing enabled and a WLan card inserted. Works great on 450Mhz Cube and 400Mhz G3 PowerBook (Lombard).
