I have a friend who needs to get 10.2.3. But they're on dial-up, while I have DSL.

As I am running 10.2.3, can I find the 10.2.3 update somewhere on my HD?

Thanks!

No, unless you saved it to your desktop. (When Software Update runs, you have the option from the File menu to download the checked installers permanently instead of having them download temporarily before they are installed).

You can get the updaters from Apple's website (go to the MacOS X tab and then Apple downloads)

Yes you can, it's in the library-receipts folder. YOu can stuff that and bring it to them and instal it from the package. Either that or Download it for them, burn to CD and install on said machines

I've wondered about this too...

Yes you can, it's in the library-receipts folder.
I don't think it's the full install package - compare the file size with a downloaded update... would be nice if they were. I'm no brain surgeon, but I think that they are quite literally 'receipts' of some sort.

OK, I found MacOSXUpdate10.2.3.pkg in the Receipts folder, but it's only 1.3 MB. So it can't be the update software, as that was over 50 MB.

I'll go ahead and download the update from Apple.

Thanks! I see that option in Software Update and will use it in the future

I wish I would have known about that last week, when I got my new computer. Spent 4 or 5 hours downloading updates on my new iMac. Then realized after I formated and reinstalled 10.2 on my old one to give to my sister (relax people I have licesnses for both) that I would have to download 10.2.3 and a bunch of other stuff all over again.

Is there anyway to specify this as the default action for software update? What would be really nice is if the program would keep actuall copies of the updates and track of how many MBs of updates I have installed and prompt me to make a backup disk if I have full CD worth.
