I've just bought an iBook 800 and want to buy a video-out adapter to connect it to my TV.
The documentantion that came with it tells me the model # for this adapter is M8734, although, Apple Knowledge Base states:

"The later Apple Video Adapter model number is M9019, while the earlier Apple Video Adapter model number is M8734. Apple will no longer sell the earlier Apple Video Adapter."

Would any1 with an iBook 800 and this adapter tell me the right number?

Apple dealers in Brazil have both, which one should I buy?

Thanx,
FABIANO

Thanx.

Apple Dealer Ariane, in So Paulo, just found it out to be the M9019.

Unfortunately it's R$ 145,00 (USD 40) plus ship.

What to do???

I do need it... I'll go for it!

Unless you want to f**k around with eBay and all the delays etc you're probably best as you say to just bite the bullet and buy it....kinda sucks its not included with the laptop. Its a catch 22 scenario, the laptop comes with the port but the only way to use it is to buy another product that only Apple sells to make use of it....

At least the give you the VGA cable. I guess the question is how many people actually need/want s-video out? I kinda doubt that it's that many, especially since VGA out is an option...

Although it sounds like the dealer is getting a heck of a mark-up on the component. It's twice the US cost!

Apple prices are really abusive down here!

They are almost impossible once our incomes are quite low.
I've just payed 2000 dollars for an iBook 800, 128Mb.
Plus 40 (video adap) + 200 (512Mb) + shipping.
Total 2300 dollars. Just wonder what I'd get if I where in US...

Crucial and Kingston are two of the big brand names in the states. I don't have any experience at all with Samsung RAM tho'....

I've never purchased from Memory X but I've heard from people who have had a good experience. Although their 512 chip seems a little pricey.

Check out RAMseeker or DealRAM for a good comparison of prices. I'm not sure which of the companies listed will ship internationally tho'....

Thanx -Q-!

I was just concerned about quality...

MemoryX also has another chip at 93,60.
http://www.memoryx.net/apl144x512g4.html.

As long as shipping to South Brazil would cost me plus 35 to 40 dollars I think I've got a good deal buying the Samsung Low Profile PC 133 chip, next day delivery for 160 dollars. ( cheaper and faster than from MemoryX).

Thanx everybody who has replied this thread.

P.S. As soon as I get it installed I will post my impressions...
