Is this the right 512Mb RAM for the new 17" iMac? From reading the apple site I think it is!

Crucial

I had already read these threads, but found them a little confusing so I was hoping for someone "in the know" to take a quick look at the link I provided!

I am assuming that this is a yes, which is what I gathered from the apple site and threads on this board, but a yes would have been nice. No offence meant btw.

With Regards to RAM, It was very confusing when the new iMac was announced! So here is the scoop!

-->The Link you provided...Crucial-CT6464X265. That 512MB RAM PC2100 DDR266 200pin (Notebook RAM) is for the 'User accessable' slot. This is the slot where you can install it yourself.
-->Now for the other stick of RAM; that is a different story. This is the slot when installing, you have to take it to a authorized reseller. If you try to install it yourself, you take the chance of voiding the warranty!!! This RAM is PC2100 DDR-266 184pin RAM.

Hope this clears everything up!

Hey no problem Andy. Just thought that the other thread was, at the time, right below your new thread, and the last post in it from me was:

184-pin DIMM in the non-user accessible, internal slot.

200-pin SODIMM in the user-accessible slot.

Both PC2100 DDR SDRAM.

Here is info on the SODIMM you need for the empty slot.

(sorry for the incorrect posing earlier)

*shrug*

No offence taken.

Sorry murbot. It's a shame you can't link to individual posts in a thread.

Plus I was having a blonde day! No offence to blondes.

Is he digging himself deeper he wonders?
