Hello all...

I play Euchre at pogo.com but can only do it with IE.

Camino 0.7, Safari (v60,62,64), and Mozilla 1.3 will not work.
Does anyone else play Euchre at pogo? Whenever I hit the "play" button to join in a game,
the game window does not pop up in these browsers. I'm added to the table, because pogo puts my name at the
seat, but like I said, the play window does not pop up.

Anyone here know why? Or if something can be done about it?

Thank you,
Tony

It could be because their use of JavaScripts or something. Thats why there are good people out there bitching about standards that M$ destroys by crippling it with their software.

I would sudgest writing those people and email. Tell them that the world is not run by M$ ... ah wait, never mind.

There is a nice story over at /.[Slashdot.org] about how MPAA and M$ are now claiming that software and movie piracy supports terrorism.

Haha, that is exactly why taking people's rights within the US is going to make terrorists go away. Seriously, everyone is trying to ride the terrorism bs.

"If you smoke weed you support terrorism." - "Well not if I grew it myself."

Well, Safari 65 pops the window and begins to load it but I didn't wait around all day to see if it was going to stay loading or actually load correctly. Do you have java 1.4.1 installed?

Yes I have Java 1.4.1 installed and the play window does not open.
And from what I've read on here, v65 is a rumor.

There are still problems with camino. I was able to play the robot a game of euker. I lost, never played before.

I am not able to load the solitaire.

Once upon a time there was an add-in to mozilla that allowed it to pretend to be various other browsers. you might have a look at freshmeat. I'll nose around and post the link if I find it.

Thanks! Yes that's it...I opened the Java console in Mozilla and saw the error for the particular routine. The source file link was there so I checked it. It looks like any browser other than IE returns "false". So I went into Safari and changed the identity to IE 5.2.2 and voila! The play window opened.

So yes, how do I do that in Mozilla? In the about:config?

Thanks!

Damn Microsoft....

Bingo,

Here is a link to the toolbar I mentioned to add to mozilla.

http://www.xulplanet.com/downloads/prefbar/

You could also modify the prefs.js file in your ~/Library/Mozilla/Profiles/default/whatever folder

You need to use the following in prefs.js:

user_pref("general.useragent.override", "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible");

Change the "Mozilla/......" to what ever you need.

Unfortunately that doesn't fix the window pop-up problem.

The 'block pop-ups' suggestion was a good one.. but didn't work, unfortunately.

There's an error in the Java console when you first enter the 'arena' (the window doesn't pop-up until you choose a table). Looks related:

netscape.javascript.JSException
at netscape.javascript.JSObject.getWindow(JSObject:ja va:144)
at u.Applet.run(Unknown Source)
at com.pogo.util.thin.sc.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:554)
