Hi,
When I telnet to SGI machine and use an Emacs or pico, seems I got some problem with key maps.
In pico, control key doesn't work. More exactly, ctrl-X doesn't work.
And in Emacs, the output of lisp execution (ctr-X ctr-C) shows a first character only.
Both terminal (SGI and OS X) env. are setted as vt100-w.
Anyone had same problem with me? How can I solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

I use secure shell (ssh) to connect to some SGI machines. I haven't noticed any problems with key mapping. (Telnet access is verboten, so I can't check your problem.)

I also tested ssh, but same thing happen in Emacs. Pico works fine in ssh.
It is strange... why...
I use OS X 10.2.5 with screen.
Same thing happen without screen as well. ![bang.gif](https://forums.macnn.com/images/smilies/bang.gif)

Don't know if this helps but you might try changing shells. IRIX default is csh I think and caused some issues for me (delete button didn't work, had to use control-H, etc) so I just switched to tcsh. Could be a long shot though...
What hardware you runnning on? I have a Indigo2 R10k, IRIX 64, 6.5.16, using it for my mp3 server, digital audio out going to my stereo system. Pretty cool stuff.

You might find what you need by looking at the manpage for stty.
STTY(1) System General Commands Manual STTY(1)
NAME
stty - set the options for a terminal device interface

When I remote to SGI, the default shell comes out as 'bash'.
After changed the shell to tcsh, I still got some problem.
Seems the problem lie on Emacs only...
STTY might helpful, but I can'f figure out now...
BTW, our SGI is Octane2, IRIX 6.5... we use this for Alias StudioTools and Java dev.
