What's your first thoughts? Somebody from WWDC has to have it installed by now. Please give us the lowdown. If you email me images or get me on AIM brainchild2b I'll host the images at my dedicated server in datacenter to post on this forum.

Thanks.

Perhaps Apple have promised a reward if the Demo is kept secret.
Normaly this place would be flooded with screenshots and reviews.

So I've noticed

It also looks like XCode is a seperate program. Isn't it going to ship with Panther?

According to stevenf of Panic, the AirPort network at WWDC is having some traffic congestion issues.

Perhaps this is why the reports haven't starting pouring in yet.

The closed door demo of what they do to squealers and leakers, with Jobs and Schiller torturing a certain webmaster, has shut everyone up.

Xcode is a seperate program and there is a version for panther and jaguar. They will probably release the jaguar version on ADC soon.

Also, everyone at wwdc is under NDA. Also, there is a problem with the airport networks at wwdc. Hence, lack of news

In any event, I installed panther last night and it looked really good on my 12" PB. I haven't had time yet to play with stuff.

How far does the NDA silence you? Steve showed us certain features so those must be free to share info about. What about other features that he *didn't* show us? Are you allowed to talk about them?

there's lots of little tweeks probably too many to list.

But here's the biggie - change the UI to many apps to an itunes/iphoto type (e.g. system profiler), add brushed metal everywhere, mute the stupid cordaroy lines and polish everything up and you got jaguar.

Oh yeah if your a unix person, you may be very very happy (don't know if it's NDA'd so I wont say but look in the utilities folder for a new app if you get a chance to play with panther)

Well, we know that X11 is in there. Since we can already use it under Jag, I will assume you are referring to something else. Any more hints?

No, it means everything now has an iTunes like playlist list on the left and a search box on the top and everything is brushed metal.

heh- just came back to edit the post, but you got here first kman just another question- can you ftp from the finder now? I see all those disks in the (new) finder view- could one of those be a remote hosting site? that would be cool. Or has ftp'ing using the OS (not the terminal!) beeen removed altogether?

I've got a few questions, if you please.

- What's in System Preferences > Appearance?
- How does Expos handle minimized windows?
- Can windows be navigated by keyboard after an Expos is activated?
- Do the new Finder and iDisk work well?

So, any tidbits for those who don't have the space, time, or flagrant disregard of morality to install a developer seed?

Have the three porting projects been combined? Is there an Apple supplied app for managing the packages?

Word from WWDC is that about 4000 or so people were trying to get on the wireless network. It was a very good learning experience for Apple from what I understand.

Panther runs well for a DP, especially on my B&W G3/300, so I know it's really going to run extremely well on newer hardware.

Another note, Gentoo Linux has been mentioned in some of the sessions along the lines of being able to load just what you need for a server, something Apple was interested and looking in to.
B&W G3/300 OS X 10.3 Server
AL G4/1.5 OS X 10.3
Next computer G5/3.X Ghz OS X 10.x.x
