I'll probably try and swing a matinee with my student discount some time soon. I know that it won't come any where close to Terminator 2, but it still looks like a fun movie (if you classify wiping out our species as "fun").

I'd like to, I'll see if I can talk Nicole into it. Seems to have good reviews so far, so that's a plus. I just really want to know how they explain SkyNet still being around after the events of T2.

Heck yeah, I'd really like to see it. But as someone else said in another thread; It would have been nice if they concentrated on the war between the machines and humans (in the present- 1997?) instead of sending a new terminator. JC was kept safe in the last movie. Should still be interesting though...

I rented both Terminator and Terminator 2 recently just to gear up for T3 (I hadn't seen either before). I really want to see it tomorrow, but I'll probably have to wait until the weekend.

Which one did you prefer, T1 or T2? Personally I think Terminator 2 is one of the greatest sci-fi movies in cinema history: the plot was there, the dialog was good, and whoever did the special effects were way ahead of their time. I hope to feel the same way about T3, but I already know going in that my expectations are too high.

Negative.

Commercials are supposed to be the highlights of a film, and they blow! T2 (greatest Action flick of all time) left now doubt that there could not possibly be a sequal to it, and here they go making this crappy rip-off of T2 with a hot chick in spandex, same old ****ing story, and corny lines like "She'll be back".

I found a nice quote on RT.com:
"Like the latest Matrix, this is a movie too wrapped up in explosions and fights and chases to say anything coherent."
Says it all don't it? Gonna be total crap.

I'm not ruining T2 for myself, you guys can go ahead. You'll find me in the theatre next door watching Legally Blond 2.

Hi,

I just got back from a sneak preview of T3.

While it wasn't Arnold's best action work (Preadator, Commando or True Lies), it was still a decent action movie. There is a bit of a twist near the end (sort of like Total Recall but different) that is reasonably well done. The fight/property destruction scenes were also well done (unlike Matrix Reloaded where some of the sequences dragged on). There were several funny jokes about the other Terminator movies as well.

Some of the things that I didn't like were:

1. Arnold doesn't blow up enough stuff
2. The movie felt short (I came away wanting to see more stuff get blown up)
3. The premise of the movie (why TX shows up, etc) doesn't fit well with the stuff from the other movies.
4. They get stuff about hardened bunkers, cars, networks and nuclear physics wrong (wilfull suspension of disbelief only goes so far)

I can post a more detailed review, if anyone is interested.

Yeah, I agreed that the previews really suck. But if you look around on the boards, a lot of people seem to like it.

I am excited.

From all the reviews I've read, and from the all of the talk of on various message boards, and from the Rotten Tomatos swing on it, I've found the the general consensus to be this:It's actually not as bad as you would think.

I know I certainly had misgivings about the film when I first saw trailers. Not misgivings so much as they were uncontrollable night terrors. I think that the fact that it is not a massive mess of a movie is somewhat of an accomplishment.
Have you seen me?

Ouch. My gf's mother gave her Legally Blonde on DVD for a present last year. Now I'm happy to watch the odd crappy comedy (so long as I don't have to pay good money for it) but WTF? A DVD? Like we are so dying to watch Legally Blonde over and over again.

The irony is that she (the gf's mum) is actually quite a film buff, Italian cinema and all that. But what do we get? Visconti? Fellini? Il Postino?

Oh no. Legally Blonde

Saw it last night. Wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. It had some quality action scenes, but really tedious dialogue. It's too bad James Cameron didn't direct this one, because I think the movie suffered for it. Mastow does a good job, but there's no replacing JC.

Be warned: if you're expecting anything close to T2, I wouldn't spend money on this movie. You will come away disappointed.

Edit: Oh yeah, the T-X sucks compared to the T-1000. Robert Patrick woukd kick that girl's ass all over the block.

Most reviews have been pretty good. It's a shame they didn't get the original actor for John or JC as director.

I'll still see it.

I pity you.

Me and my girl have the same arrangement. Luckily, she's into much more sophisticated stuff. Although I always feel bad cause I drag her to the stupid action stuff in the summer. I'm prety good though. I don't want to see the Hulk or T3 either but I did have to see the Matrix (). She fell asleep through part of it.

Ok just saw it.

Good movie, not cheesy and very well done. The car chase is worth it alone.

But... I don't see the point to it really. It was just a remake of the second one with a hot chick for the Terminator.

Anywho, 10x better them matrix. The reason... well they had to prove another sequel 10 years later can still be good. The matrix was overconfident and no matter what they spewed out Matrix fanboys would still be beating off over it.
Shame as the First Matrix rocked.

T2 was better then t3 though.

Sarah is dead, I believe. I don't know who is in the coffin (yet).

I am going to see T3 for the same reasons I got see any Arnold action flick:

Lots of guns
Lots of explosions
Cool Special Effects
And enough plot to at least tie it together. I neither expect or demand Oscar caliber writing, acting or directing from his films. Just give me explosions. Lots of them.

they didn't answer the one question i was anxious to hear the explanation on: how is all this coming to pass if they won in T2? maybe it was cut out, maybe they figured we didn't need an explanation, i dunno. just a tad disappointed by that.

Ya they did. All they did was delay it. In T2 it was advanced because they found the arm from T1 and set them ahead a few years. Since they killed the technology humans had to develop it on their own which took another 10 years.

ok, i'll rephrase that: they didn't explain it to my satisfaction. cyberdyne was destroyed in T2, supposedly along with their research, prototypes, etc...
that should have set them back a lot more than 10 years. but oh well, doesn't take away from the action sequences

I saw it today and I'd agree with a lot of the reviews I read: it's better than you'd expect. Although I did wonder where the $175 million went. The ending seemed a little forced, as if they were trying really hard to give us a big twist.

Much better than "Hulk." At least the optical effects were well-done and didn't stand out like a big sore green thumb. And they didn't fall into the trap of dragging things out for 150 minutes so we'd know it was an "important" movie.

**** SPOILER ***

Yes ... skynet was a military project. If you blow up one contractor they will simply get another.

They also brought in a missing link ... the classmate chick's dad who was in charge of skynet development.

I thought they did the impossible: They tied it together well and actually made it plausible. (For a sci-fi flick)

The ending was very very unexpected. (Kind of a kick-in-the-teeth shock.) I liked it. (I like when a film surprises me by doing what I didn't think that they would do.)

It's supposed to be her coffin, but it was full of weapons in accordance with her last wishes. She died of leukemia in 1997 and her body was cremated.

Good movie, much better than Legally Blonde 2. The audience was cracking up at all the cheesy one-liners, and my significant other actually enjoyed T3 more than LB2.

Having been forced to see LB2, I can say that that doesn't mean much. Seriously, I'm looking forward to seeing T3, and the positive reviews here are just reinforcement for that. Besides, I need some serious destruction and carnage to help shake off the bad memories of my night seeing LB2. <shiver>

My girlfriend and I just saw it. We both liked it a lot. Yeah, the lines were cheesy ("Terminatrix") but it was good fun.

T-X could have been badder-ass, though. Although the part where she makes her tits bigger for the cop was nice
