Just heard on BBC News 24 that Barry White has died this morning aged 58 in Los Angeles.

Christ, it must be that time of year again.

Edited to change age from 56 to 58 (so far its been reported as 56,59 then 58!)

He was waiting for a liver transplant, if I remember correctly.

Or maybe it was a kidney. One or the other. That's too bad.

That's sad.

If I had to bet on who dies next I think I'd pick the pope, too.

My heart goes out to his family and friends. His musice touched a lot of hearts. Only God alone knows who is next. it is not for us to know!

These always come in threes. It's kinda funny to see who will be in line together at the pearly gates.

Sometimes it makes sense: David Brinkley, Gregory Peck, Hume Cronyn.

Sometimes it's a bit incongruous: Katharine Hepburn, Barry White, ?.

Still waiting for number three...

Very very sad.

Has anyone seen the VH1 Legends TV show about Barry White? I thought it was really good, and would love to get a copy of it. That Legends, and the Legends episode about George Clinton.

Ya know, for a second I was going to say "But he did die recently". In my search for evidence to back that up I realized he didn't die recently, but he did turn 100 recently.

For some oddball reason I mixxed-up his turning 100 with him dieing.

Very sad about Barry White though. I'd have guessed the pope would go first. 58 is too young.

To be fair, every news outlet has obituaries prepared for any number of celebrities and politicians.

They're only briefly updated when somebody dies.

It's just so they have something to go on the air with immediately after the news breaks.

No, Barry was number three. Buddy Hackett was number two....There have been a ton of celebrity deaths over the past month...

I just heard a comment on the radio from his family about the tragedy... They basically said they often wonder how many children around the world have been conceived as a direct result of his music!

They said that thinking of this, makes them proud and happy...

A encouraging thought in the midst of sadness...

Didn't Robert Stack die recently? And Hume Cronyn?

My votes for next to go: Buddy Ebsen (Jed on Beverly Hillbillies, 95 & recently hospitalized), or Ronald Regan.
