As soon as I extend my screen past a 90 degrees angle, my background on my iBook turns from black to red and all the other colors get messed up! Do I have to send it to Apple?

Yes. Looks like your monitor connection is on its way out. It should be covered by warranty.

Yeah, that's usually not a good sign. It will get progressively worse.

I had a similar problem with my backlight. The hinge wears out cables going through it.

Take it to your dealer. If you're under warranty, you should be covered

BTW: Backup your files before sending it anywhere. I've heard of notebooks coming back with a blank (new?) harddrive.
