Oh my god, this game is insane. I've had the demo now since...well, since it came out and I can't stop playing. I've finally managed to scrape up enough cash to buy the full version. Just wondering though, is the full version worth it? Can it get any better?

Just got the full version this morning, and it's awesome! The detail in the graphics surpases the demo ten fold!
Some of the maps are very jerky though (think the Citadel map in the demo and then half the frame rates!) on my Powerbook, I think I need more than 512Mg of RAM!

If you are able to play Antalus (the map) and have fun with it and it runs well, then you should be able to play most of the maps pretty well. There are a few that are a little more taxing on the hardware, partially due to the copious bots that exist by default on them (tokara forest is a good example, as is rustatorium). but like i said, the maps of average busy-ness and complexity are fine, and damn fun to play with; the full version is well worth it from that perspective.

(powerbook g4/867, usually play 1024x768, 32bit, most other settings down low)

i play on 1920 x 1220 at 32 bit and it runs fine. Sometimes it could slow down but it's not enough to make me want to quit.

I bought a new G4 tower last year but I'm so jealous of the new G5s that I may just get another tower.

I think the maps are amazingly cool. It runs fine on my Radeon 9000 Pro except when there are bunch of bots in a large area.

it runs like a joke on my Dual 867/9000/512 ram.

>30 FPS on 1024X867. i guess when i got my mac, i knew it wouldnt be good for games, i just wished it ran them as well as OK PCs.

my PC would cost around 600 to build now, Athlon 2000+, 512 DDR, 4200 and it runs it at around 20 FPS faster with everything on high at 1280 X 1024.

i think that the people who think it runs well havent seen it run on PCs of similar Price, it just chugs along.

It kicks ass. I get over 100fps on my computer.

Of course, it's a PC .

Seriously, I played it on dual 1.4's at WWDC and it was pretty damn nice. Still not PC speeds, though.

yeah, now, i want to know whether its the video card drivers, the porting, mac hardware, or OS problems causing these slow downs...

...or most likely a combination.

The jump from 10.2.3 to 10.2.6 made the gameplay a lot more smooth on my ghz Tibook. In some of the Panther threads, people have been saying that 10.3 has helped speed it up.

With the screenshoots I've seen, and I also have played the demo I can't say that it beats the good old Unreal Tournament. I still have OS 9 runing on my machine, just to play UT and WC3.

UT is my dreams, I love that games. UT2K3 looks more like Quake III to me (ughh).

Maybe I'll but the game when I get myself a better mac (maybe G5), and when mods are starting to come to this engine.

Anybody here played the full version on a Powerbook 17" yet?

Is it nice? I thought the demo played quite well, and I did not even tweak the settings.

If so, is there a way to enable full screen to utilize ALL of the Powerbook's screen, without the silly black bars on the side?

Yes to everything! It runs really well at 1400x900 but drop the depth to 16 bit for smoother play. You won't notice the color depth change. I play deathmatch with my cousin who has my Ti800 and he runs that at full screen too.

Most everything I've played so far on my dual 800 with GeForce 2MX twinhead has been great but a few of the maps are too jerky while I'm running folding@home so I need to stop it to get things to run well again.

Still, if there was a retail version of the Radeon 9700 or 9800 Pro, it would be much nicer.

It all looks nicer and while the play isn't much different, it's nice to have a fully-supported Mac OS X version.
folding@home is good for you.

So i'm running it on an 800 iMac G4 with 512ram and the 32mb GeForce2........and i have to say that with all the stats on normal and the resolution at 1024x768, it runs very well. MUCH better than i thought it would. My big question is how you turn on the stats to see what the framerate is in the demo? I knew you could do it in the old UT, but i don't see the option in this demo. Any help?

Hit the "~" key - the useless one under the esc key and type in "stat fps". You can do it in the menus as well and it stays on during the game.
