I have a rev d imac (333MHz, 6mb rage pro, OSX/OS9, 196MB ram) and I am at a loss to what games will actually run decently in OS 9. Minimum requirements often result in ber jumpy graphics.

What games will run well on my mac? I don't care if it has to be used on the lowest settings but it has to be fairly smooth. I am looking for something like a shooter... maybe AvP?

Isn't marathon old? I saw it once and it looked like it belonged on a performa.

Quake III or II?

I have a similar set up, iMac 266mhz, 160 mb of Ram. AvP runs when all options are turned to a mininmun, but it still has many spots where teh frame rate decreases to a crawl. Quake 2 works very well, as does quake 1. Quake 3 will work if you turn all the options to their lowest but it will be laggy with frame rates from 10-20fps, sometimes dipping below that. Duke Nukem is an old shooter, but it is still fun, and will run perfectly on your computer. The original Rainbow six will also work acceptably. If you are intrested in anything else than shooters, check outwww.ambrosiasw.com all the games there are excellent and will work in OS9. Though theyre not shooters you should also check out Myth 2, Warcraft 2, Starcraft and Diablo 2, they should run well also. And if you are really looking to expand your macs game capabillity, i would try to find an connectix virtual gamestation disk on ebay, it lets you play almost any playstation game on your mac. Hope all of this helps.

Sin gold is based on Qake 2 and will run well and it does not look as dated as Marathon and DOOM II does.

I used to run UT on the iMac released after yours (350 MHZ with 8MB Rage 128 VR) at low-medium settings without much slowdown. Same goes for Rune. The Unreal engine is very smooth
Be happy.

Myth I and Myth II are great games. My parent's 233 iMac ran them extreamly well. Make sure you pick up a ton of plugins for them, it expands the playability so much.

The Marathon games. I agree so much.

Dibalo II should run ok, Dibalo I for sure.

Starcraft and Brood War would run very well.

Total Annilation.

Civ 2 and Alpha Cintari.

SimCity 2000, because there is never enough time for SimCity 200 in any lifetime.

Pong.
