Please help MacUpdate ( www.macupdate.com) by voting on which logo you prefer. We personally like the new one because it can look good in black and white, be resized small and large and remain sharp, and look great on printed paper, shirts, hats, etc...

I definitely don;t like the old one. But the new one says devil's tail to me -- make the arrow red!
Or face the arrow down - as in download.
needs some more playing...

Look! It's an elephant pointing its trunk to the sky.
I like the new one for the reasons you've stated. Always good to think of these issues when designing a logo.

i love the symbol but am not fond of the palette. it's too soft. also, the wordmark feels too conservative for the symbol.
just my 2.

The old one reminds me of EVERYTHING happening around 1998.

I like the second one better. I never liked the first one.
You probably should emphasize more on the main logo by thicken it a bit. "MacUpdate" font size is too small. Maybe experiment with several different fonts?
Otherwise, a good start

1) They'll not allowed to use the Apple logo, so don't expect it to stay.
2) MAC or Mac, Acronym or word?
Anyhow, the second one is certainly nicer. Not keen on the colours though, and the MacUpdate text is too small.

the second one, definitely. As adam and art said, tweak the colors and increase the point size on the words, they look tweeny next to the logo.
there's something about the arrow that bothers me... I like it, but I wonder if it's misaligned slightly or something. Maybe it should be more subtle.

The hooded sweatshirts are going to cost us $22 + shipping. The white t-shirts are going to cost us $7.50/shirt + shipping. Let me know if you're interested so I can get your info when the first ones get printed on November 10th.

Anything that gets rid of a swoosh logo is a good thing!
Love the new one in the blue!

How come you updated the site with the first version of the new logo?

The blue logo doesn't fit well on the site, but it looks great on the shirts and sweatshirts. I'll get photos up for you guys soon, otherwise here's an illustration:

Props on not throwing in a .com. I would never wear a www.****.com shirt. I would buy one of your's, well done. Cool logo.

I think that logo can be fitted for a website and still look great.
Don't give up so easily
BTW, any plan to revamp the whole layout in MacUpdate.com? Frankly, I find it to be confusing and ugly.
With a pretty layout, I'll give up VersionTracker easily.
