Anyone know if it is possible to get an educational discount on things such as batteries and such.
When purchasing at the apple store, things such as batteries and applecare are discounted. Is it possible to order the powerbook and decide later to get the battery at that price?
Thanks.

yes, you can...
there is a certain limit of products you can buy per academic year using the education discount..
it usually goes something like 1 computer, 2 monitors, etc...per academic year...
I think the acdemic year resets on July 1...
here is a guide on how to use the education store...

Yes because you are shopping in the educational store. I've done it for simple things but they have to be Apple products or a special student offer, not everything in the edu store is at student price.

Yes and yes.
EDU discounts apply to anything made directly by Apple (batteries, AE Base Stations, etc.) and don't have to be purchased along side your computer...you can re-order accessories at the discounted prices anytime.

Thanks for the replies.
I will be purchasing a new Powerbook tomorrow. To save money for now, I'm planning on purchasing AppleCare and possible an extra battery later in the year before I graduate.
AppleCare is $239 with discount vs. $349 without! Battery is less dramatic at $116 vs $129.

Yep, the edu discount on the AppleCare is a great deal. Unfortunately, the edu discount on other things is so substantial and is more than made up for with sales tax if you live somehwere like NY.
Just make sure you purchase your Applecare before the first year is up. You can purchase (and enroll) right over the phone if you end up in a pinch for time.

Is there a standard educational discount in the US? Here in Ireland it's only 5%. It's better than nothing of course but I thought it was more.
