Ever since I upgraded to QT 6.4 I've had several mpg files that are not recognized. I'm not sure if it has something to do with QT 6.4 breaking a codec or it's just a new codec that has appeared.

I've ben able to play the files in MPlayer which makes me think it has something to do with QT 6.4.

The Info panel when I play them in MPlayer says it is a MPEG-PS file format. Is that new? Anybody have any info?

It could be that you bought the MPEG-2 codec. If so, you need to log-in to the Apple store and download the new version. (Under My Account/Software Downloads.)

Did you have DivX 5.0.7 installed? Might have to reinstall it after running the QT upgrade.

I have the MPEG-2 codec through buying DVDSP2. I haven't checked the software update. Thanks for the heads up. I'll do that now.

So, I guess the answer to the question is it DID mess with some codecs.
