Simple.... he knows somebody!

I know someone that has a boxed copy already myself. I've heard that some retailers have it in store already so that person could possibly work for one of those retailers. Fringe benefit of sorts. Then again maybe he's Steve Jobs.

Nice....

The real question is, how rich is this guy? A PC and a Powermac, with 5 moniters hooked up between the two, and I saw a FP iMac in the background. Also owns a Segway, and a sick little car to boot!
I guess living conditions in the UK are better then I thought!

Also does this mean we can start unlocking and actively using Panther support threads?

Well, best in the world. It's not Kansas, you know.

But I bet he has a big ass company and is friends with Apple distribution there.

Sorry, until Apple officially supports and recognizes Panther as a product and not just "coming in xxxxxx days" they're still on lockdown.

There are 3 discs so there must be 3 7B85's.

I was born and raised in Kansas. Now live just across the border in Kansas City, Mo. We left a few lights on for ya.

Backing everything up tonight on our iMac and PB. Friday is almost here.

Does anyone remember the BIG fluke Staples did back in the 10.0 Days? Many Staples stores sold 10.0 4 days EARLIER..... I saw it on MacNN, ran to the nearest Staples, and asked the nice guy to look for the new Mac OS. All I said was "It has a big blue X on the cover"

Sure enough he gets it and I had my hands on X a full 3 days before official release date.

I already had mine on order from Apple so as soon as I got my Apple copy I went to the Staples and returned my Apple provided 10.0

Those were the days.......

Its not the fact that life is fact, but that life itself is a fact of the unknown....

Yep. Stood in line at midnight to buy that terrible OS. Sexy girls were passing by on the way to the clubs and asking us what we were waiting for. We said an operating system. Doh, I felt like such a geek. And I'm the guy who always gets the best girls so I was scratching my head wondering why I was in that queue and not the clubs.

I wonder if people will mistake the Panther box for the Malcolm X movie... or is it just marketing to attract more afro-american users

I, too, read about the Staples mistake and took advantage of it, racing across San Francisco to my local shop.

Had 10.0.0 in my hot little hands days early, and boy did it feel good to run a mostly-baked UNIX on my PowerBook. (I'd run A/UX years earlier, but it didn't pass the baked test ;-)

I remember discussion of a clause in the Apple contract that included a fine of a huge amount of money per mistake, but I never heard if Apple tried to collect, or it was all fluff, or whatever.

Anyway, I've said it before, and I'll say it again, THANKS STAPLES!

I believe it came in the mail (FedEx, whatever).

The thing is, Apple has already sent many/most of the copies out for pre-orders. They're hoping they arrive on Friday, but sometimes they arrive early. Apple doesn't control all shipping all over the world, even though they try and time these things, some copies will arrive earlier than Friday, and some will arrive later.

Amazing!
