I want to get a G5 tower but want to wait untl they have been around a bit.

I was thinking of getting a 1.25 G4 or the 12 inch powerbook.

Kind of extreme.

Basically I see myself upgrading from either computer in a year.

I was thinking that the powerbook would have a much better resell value.

But the G4 with a nice monitor would be better for editing on FCP 4.

I wish I could afford every mac, just for fun.

I'm in the exact same situation here.
What I resolved was to get the 12in High End PBG4, with RAM maxed out and the AirPort Extreme card.
To that, I will add a Philips 15in TFT display. I will also plan to buy Microsoft's Wireless Desktop for Bluetooth.

That way I will have an excellent work setup, and while on the road, I just unplug everything and take the PB with me.

I actually like the idea, which will be a big change for me since -to date- I only used desktop systems.

Cheers

I think the 12' is an excellent stop-gap solution for you. BUT, don't count on the "much better" resale value of the 12". The Rev A's lost alot of value when the Rev B came out and even now there is more and more discounting on the Rev B.

Also, if you plan to hold it more than 12 months make sure to get AppleCare. It will be even tougher to unload your PB w/o it.

I found the top of the line with SD for 1600.

That seems like a hell of a deal.

But I still can't decide.

Smalldog has some nice prices and a bigger monitor woudl be nice.

i know I can hook up the 12inch to an external monitor, but that won't happen for ahwile after that big purchase.

It's fun deciding though.
