Anyone else getting the spinning beach ball when restarting and opening the Finder? After restarting, when opening the Finder, I'll get the beach ball for about 3 minutes before it opens. I'm on an airport connection. I did an archive and install installation and repaired permissions. Everything else about Panther is fantastic, except this, but it's still worth it. Until Apple fixes this, I'll just refrain from restarting.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I had this happen today. The cause was my wireless network was down when I restarted. I then changed my network settings to the modem and restarted and everything was fine. I then changed them back to the wireless, which was still down, and restarted and then had the pause again.

Hope this helps.

Update:

This seems to have fixed the problem:

Go to Applications>Utilities>Directory Access and make sure AppleTalk is enabled. It is not by default. Also, for good measure, delete everything from your Startup Items in System Preferences>Accounts.
