That's actually kinda cool. Too bad I can't read Chinese. Those Chinese newspaper are like tabloids though.

Except that you can just barely make out "Sony" (particularly the "y") under the screen, which I suppose moves somehow to reveal another layer of buttons or whatever underneath.
heh...interesting, though.

I thought it says "AIWA". But now that you mention "Sony", it looks like I must've read it upside down. It does look like it says Sony.

how can it be sony if every other word in that chinese text is 'iPod' Sony can't use that name so it must be apple and if you look at some of the other pics they have they are of iMacs, etc.

well... i'd wager because it doesn't actually say "this is an ipod."

That device is dumb. Why does it need to "download" anything? I don't want to give up the computer as a digital hub.
And the lucite is way too thick for a touch-screen effect to work.
And by the way, I'm pretty sure the text at the bottom reads "Design:nono".

you guys really dissapointed me .... Apple has announced the co-operation with UK design company named Designworks Windsor to work on th next generation iPod which could support at least 50GB HD and added one 4.5 inch flat screen as movie player.
According to the magazine, just sync the qt movies or DVD movies to the iPod... that simple thing.
Besides, Apple includes the bluetooth technology into the iPod and people can swap movies around and ohhh yeah, it's LEGAL.
Coming up soon !!

Oh yeah, one more thing in my mind..
Since Apple has this add-on device, soon we will have something like iTunes "Movies" Store.
Buy movies online, $0.99 per movie..
let's pray for this ...

You must be on crack. You want to transfer a 5 gig movie through bluetooth? I hope you got a week to spare.
Also, where are all these movies supposed to come from? You are not allowed to encode your own DVD's.
Not to mention Steve said he can't picture people wanting to watch movies on an iPod.

iPod
Sorry it's not.
The picture first appeared in the UK in T3 magazine and its nothing more than a design company's idea what the next iPod might look like. There was certainly no implication that Apple were involved in the process.
The magazine has got quite a lot of flak from its readers for having something like 'REVEALED - THE NEXT PLAYSTATION!' on the cover (usually inside the shrink wrap), only to have yet another concept drawing inside.
Best wishes,
Mike.

thank you... mike is right. Additionally, it had a mock remote with a dial that was bluetooth. Interesting enough is that the T3 mag had a female model wearing almost nothng holding the iPod. Where is that picture?

I third the motion.
For a second there as I was reading through the thread, I thought the sarcasm was so dry that I was missing it. But then I thought, maybe these guys really believe this is going to happen. To be honest, I'm still a little concerned about some of you guys.

Of the original pic - looks like someone shrunk the screen & bezel of a 17" iMac and glued it on to an existing iPod (or maybe a sony walkman...). Neat idea, but somehow I think we'd see something a little more integrated.

The 50GB HD is an instant give-away. Why? Cuz all current portable drives (both 1.8" as in iPod and 2.5" as in notebooks) use 10 or 20GB platters, so the possible sizes are 10/20/40/60/80 GB, not intermediate values.
