Hi,
how do I make a dvd copy of my movie dvd, for my personal use? I mean which programes do I need? Is there a dedicated site to get more info?

Do you want to copy it to your harddrive, or do you want to burn a new DVD from the original?

And another note... if you are looking at making copies of movies on DVD, for the most part they will not fit on a DVD-R. Printed DVD's can have two layers, and DVD-R's are limited to one layer (there is a version in development that will change this.. but that is some way off from being a common... or affordable thing).

There are applications that will split the content somewhat intelligently between two disks.

thx for the answers so far- how do I copy a dvd on my hardrive? I go on a trip and don't want to bring my dvds themselves

Use DVDBackup (you can find it via the link I posted above). Then, watch the DVD using VLC (get it off of Versiontracker or MacUpdate).
