i posted this three days ago:
"i've had this problem for the past three or four days now - my superdrive won't read DVDs.
it will read CDs or CDRs, but i've tried about 15 different DVD discs and it's managed to read one. (even then, playback in DVD player was choppy and the disc sounded like it was stopping and starting spinning).
when i put a DVD in the drive, the drive doesn't even seem to spin. at least, i can't hear it spin. then, about a minute later, the drive ejects itself."
now i tried to burn a CDR today (tried itunes and toast) and i wasted about 5 CDRs. within a few seconds of starting each burn i got a error message.
has anybody else experienced this? should i call applecare?

in case of accidental ingestion, consult a mortician.

might sound like an open door, but i think your drive has died on you! if you still have warranty or AppleCare i'd claim it. otherwise have a service center make a quote for a replacement...
