Hi

I have ripped my music collection into iTunes, and its all AAC/M4a. But its suddenly occurs to me that the only obvious option for portable music is the iPod, which I can't afford.

I did some digging and it seems that Panasonic do an AAC player for about 100, but everything indicates it is Windows only.

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/sd-products/svsd51/index.htm

Am I wrong about the Panasonic player? Are there really no AAC players for the Mac other than the iPod? I'd have thought that someone like MacAlly might have seen a market for 'not another MP3' player.

Seems a bit rum to me. I wouldn't mind buying an iPod second-hand off eBay, but for the battery issue.

O2 do a mobile/music device that supports the m4a format, but I don't know very much about it - I think it is tied to their music store service, and costs around 100.

You could get an original 5Gb iPod for around 150 (or a 10Gb for 130 if you happen to hop over to America )

Or get a refurbished one at Apple.com. Warranty like a new one, new battery. Worth the extra change.

So better be quick. Sometimes they have some on sale in other places. I have heard that amazon has sold 30 gig iPods for the same price as the 20 giggers!

If you don't need it now, I'd wait till after the Keynote: either you get the same model for less or a new one.

It is rumored (I don't give much about rumors) that there are new cheap iPods next.
