I have my G5 at home where I do a lot of work, but I take my iBook to school, where I enter assignments, and the like. Is there a way to (not manually) sync the two?

TIA

Get .Mac. It will do that for you over the internet using iSync.

.Mac definitely works, at the price of $100/year for as long as you can stand to keep paying it.

You also might try Unison, the freeware file synchronizer. It takes a little while to learn how to set it up, but it works wonderfully. Unlike most Mac synchronization packages, it can synch changes when you've changed a calendar on both of your computers.

You can download a Terminal version of Unison for OS X here.
