Hi all, My question is that I already have a 12" AL Pb and am about to purchase a 17" Imac, they will both be on a network (one wirelessly). What is the best way to have them connected to eachother at all times, giving me free reign of the files on the imac from my living room or the powerbook files from my imac? Any advice will help, I know this may be a newbie question but this is my first time to own both a Mac laptop and desktop in the same house, any advice or help would be appreciated, thanks!
-Eric

If they're both on the same network then just turn on file sharing on both machines and you're set.

Firewire networking. Really fast, convenient. I use it all the time.

What about to take control of my Imac from the living room, kind of like "Remote Desktop for the PC"? Thanks

If they both have Gigabit Ethernet use that...its faster than FireWire and you don't even need a crossover cable.

I think yall may be confused as to what im asking, I would like to be able to swap files between the computers over the network, maybe change files then move them around, that sort of thing.

SystemPrefs> turn on remote login and personal file sharing.(Both systems) While both are on the ketwork, hit apple+K or Go>connect to server and put in the IP of the system you want to connect to. Enter the username and password for the remote machine, and you can mount the drives on the other system, just like it was a firewire or USB drive.

Simple tip:
You can use iChat Rendezvous to transfer files between the two computers, if you don't do it too often.

because we all know talking to yourself (if even over AIM) is a sign of insanity.
haha. use VNC to control, and file sharing to move files.

Did you ever consider looking through OS X help? I think the answer you were looking for is there.
