Ok, I am planning on buying an ipod, 15GB. The "new" ones from apple. I don't want the thing to get scratched or dented...its sooo shiny I don't even what any smudge marks on it. Basically I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to protect it from scratches and concusion damage while at the same time having full access to the buttons and scroll wheel.

There's this stuff called ice cream or something along those lines that helps remove scratches. Do a search in the peripherals forum. I keep mine in an iSkin (http://www.iskinprotect.com/) so I don't have a good reason to buy it yet but people seem to like the product.

I've used Brasso to remove scratches. It works, but being anal and always worrying about the scratches gets old. The scratches give your iPod character.

It is absolutely impossible not to scratch or fingerprint an iPod in casual use. The only way to retain most of the shininess is to get one of those clear iPod covers, iSkin I think they're called, that covers all but the butttons, scroll wheel, and ports.

I second the character thing - my 2G 20GB iPod is even more excellent for having some love marks.

I have the iSkin eXo2. It's pretty nice. Got some style, and protects pretty darn well. It comes with a screen protector as well. But after some use, I think I prefer my iPod naked. It's sexier that way.

Yes.

I've used my iPod "naked" ever since I first got it. (1st gen 5 gb) I don't mind. I don't care what it looks like, only that it works.

I have a palm screen protector on the back of mine and a cut-down one over the screen. I also have one of those skins, but it makes the iPod too thick and bulky.

I have a Marware Sportsuit Convertible for my 2nd gen. 10GB iPod. There's a pocket that holds both the earbuds and the remote. It came with a belt clip as well as an armband to clip on your arm.

I also use PDA screen protectors on my 3G 15GB, and it keeps it from scratching as well as preventing fingerprints from showing up. My iPod mini is much more durable, and I use it without a case all the time with no scratches to show for it.
