Currently I have a G4 tower and a desktop PC sharing a monitor via a KVM switch. I would like to get rid of this monitor (a 21" crt I picked up for 30$ at a yard sale) - since it is huge, and the picture quality isn't great. I want a 17" acd Apple flat panel ideally, but I wouldnt be able to use the pc with that. Since I only use the PC for a few media conversion tasks, I was thinking I could control it from the Mac. They are hooked to the same router...

Any recommendations out there for a program I could run on my mac to control the PC?

you can use remote desktop connection client for mac - http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherpr...edesktopclient

or a adc>dvi converter and an ADC KVM switch.

Microsoft's RDC works extremely well for tasks like that. I've been using it at home for similar things and it's worked great. It does require XP or 2000 server tho'...

RDC kicks ass but don't expect to play games on it. I'd stick with the KVM option.

Hmm. I've never checked out RDC... It looks slick. The only problem is that the PC is running 2000 pro, not server or XP. I wonder if I can get it working with that?

I forgot to say that the pc only has a vga port, no dvi - so I cant convert it ans still use the KVM. I guess my option on that would be to get a VGA flat panel and continue to share, but I would so rather have the Apple monitor....

Thanks for all the ideas!
