does anyone have any knowledge about this kind of stuff. im assumming since its 2.5" it will fit, and that it is both PC and Mac compatiable. can anyone verify this?

hard drives are all the same--as long as you get a 2.5" IDE and not SCSI.

The TiBook is not difficult. You need a T8 to get the bottom off. Then, the hard drive replacement is rather straight forward from there. (i.e. you shouldn't have to take any other parts out)
