Launch RealOne Player once. It should install the plug-in.

is there another way? Safari cannot find the plugin and I've launched the player several times.

When was the last time Real Player for OS X was updated?

Is it possible sites are using a "Windows only so far" version of Real Player that involves a new plugin not yet available for OS X?

Look in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and see if you have 2 aliases there for the real player plugins that in turn reference files within the RealPlayer app itself - this is how mine is currently set up, and it works...

I don't have them... I'll see if I can put them there manually.

Thanks!

that worked thanks.

along the way I discovered that the finder will not let you authenticate a change to a folder when you command-option drag (make alias) multiple items I had to command-option to the desktop and then move them in.

Why did you need to authenticate?

I guess that's the reason why Realplayer couldn't do it for you, but it should be able to on an admin account.

I wasn't in an admin account. I don't use one for everyday. I probably should have just launched RP from the admin account, but well designed software would not require that, just authentication.

RealOne Player attempts to create an alias to its plug-in in /Library/Internet Plugins, and if that fails, it tries to create the alias in the user's directory, ~/Library/Internet Plugins.

That is what I would have expected but for whatever reason it didn't happen.

I'm having the same problem. Real won't play in Safari or IE. I looked in my library and I have the two plug-in aliases there and even tried reinstalling Real.

Here's the error I'm getting:

The page Webcast attemped to load an Internet plug-in named RealPlayer(tm) G2 LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-in (Mac), but the plug-in failed to load successfully.

Any ideas?

If you want to have another reason to be frustrated with REAL, check out my experience with trying to view a video steam of a eurocup match. I posted my rant in the video forum, here's the link to the enchanting error message from REAL:

REAL.com-Euro2004.com Action

As if the whole Euro cup is Mac incompatible, GMAFB. Why does anyone on the planet use real? I'll take WMP over real at this point.

Why do everyone hate RealPlayer? Its a much better-written app than WMP at least (although that doesnt say much really )
