Just ordered my new BTO 17" Powerbook on the 7th, yesterday. BTO with 128mb Vram and 5400 80G hardrive. Apple just informed me that it is shipping, checked Fedex and it is shipping from Rancho Cordova, CA. I thought all new BTO shipped from China? Estimated delivery is the 12th, this is not bad for a BTO, 5 days from placing order online. Any observations?

Apple have charged me twice for the PB so I have a overdrawn account of nearly $3,000 due to this and my credit card company has already charge me $30 for insufficient funds when I had well than enough money on the card. Hope I can sort this out come Monday. Apple e-mailed me two USPREPAID notification for the same order with different numbers, this seems to be the problem. Anyone else had this happen to them?

I ordered by 15 inch with 128 VRAM and the faster hard drive, and it shipped the day I ordered it. Weird... It said 3-5 days.

And yet my new 17" BTO took 10 business days for it to arrive. Why Apple needs to have BTO when the main options are memory and HD (ram & video) is beyond me.

My BTO 17" PB (upgraded VRAM and HD) shipped the next business day. I ordered the evening of July 2nd (Friday) and it shipped Tues evening (after I updated the order, to get the better HD) on Tues morning, from Sacramento. I got it Thurs afternoon, with the free shipping.

How do you check when it was sent and where it is at? I ordered a 12" pb, a 15gb ipod, and a printer two days ago but when i go to order status it just shows a receipt. Do I need to go to the fedex website? Thanks.

Apple will email you a shipment notification. In that email it will include a tracking number and the name of the carrier used.

Also, some time after you get the email, you can go back to your order status online, and it will list the same information, along with a link to check status at the carrier's website (at least for FedEx).

My order status was usually updated about an hour or two after getting the shipment notification email, and I was able to start tracking the shipment via FedEx.com about 10-12 hours getting the email.

Hey guys....

Is there any way to BTO a Powerbook without doing so thru Apple?

I would like to save on sales tax.

Thanks!
