sweet! i just noticed they implemented dimensions into illustrators "effect" menu. i used to love that program, so simple and in vector. i rarely use illustrator, i'm a freehand man, so i never noticed it. anyway, just thought i'd share my ounce of joy

Where is this?
Not being familiar with Dimensions, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Illustrator CS comes with a set of 3D effects that were previously offered in dimensions, where you can extrude and map art to simple shapes.

Although I've noticed that whenever I try to extrude a complex shape (or even one that's somewhat large and/or has a gradient fill) the program hangs on a progress bar that says "resolving visibility" and I have to force quit. Shouldn't do that on a dual 2 G5 with a gig of RAM, should it?

yeah i noticed it's still slow, but it's good enough for simple extrusions and mappings

I have the same problem, it hangs for a minute or so, but eventually renders, you just have to be patient.

Lordy, I loved Dimensions back in the day. That and Letraset Envelopes.
(And if anyone here is that old too, I'll meet you in Indy and buy you a Guinness)

at the risk of completely highjacking this thread

finally got rid of the 7100 I was hanging onto... replaced my old SCSI scanner so it went for a walk. I still have the System 8 announcement CD.

Does a C64 or C128 with 512K expansion ROM count?
I even have the GEOS package that copied the original PARC interface...

don't ask I don't know why I still have it.

on the thread:

thx for the update on Dimensions [within ILL CS] I need that from time to time and it can really help.

I still have the install discs for Ready Set Go! Letraset's first page layout program. Who remembers ThunderScan?
