Honestly, I think a lot of people are full of crap, and they'll just type whatever crap suits them.
I see a lot of confident Kerry people around. I tried to wager with some loudmouth in the lounge before, but he ran away. So I ask here:
Anybody willing to make a friendly wager ? Some people seem awfully confident. I think they're full of crap, and they're just typing garbage.
Say $100 ? Loser would pay through paypal, so no sneaky business is possible, and it can be confirmed.
Any takers ? Must be a MacNN person who is known to me from here, of course.
Bush loses - I'll pay the $100 via paypal right away, and admit I was wrong.
Bush wins - You pay $100 to me via paypal right away, and you admit you were wrong.
Any loudmouths care to back up their ridiculous claims with a friendly wager ?

If you're wary about betting a hundred bucks against Dubya - I'll cover a twenty dollar wager. That's US dollars, the only real money.
Well, step on up.

I'd wait for wagering. The public is fickle and if we did have another terrorist attack then there is a chance for a Kerry win. Spain proved that and I don't give the swing votin', reality tv watchin' public a whole lot credit for making a prudent decision under duress.

Terrorist attack or not. This is the USA, and we aren't Spaniards and we aren't the French.
My offer stands for 24 hours after I first started this thread.

Which is how Bush was elected in the first place.

You know, if you really want to put your money where your mouth is, just go here. If I want to bet on the presidential election, that's where I'll do it, not with some guy on a forum who could weasel out.
You can go for the higher risk winner take all market or the lower risk (lower payout) vote share market.

Why should I? At the moment, I'll get a better payout from the winner takes all market, and I don't have to take the risk of anyone welching on the bet.
Bush supporters, OTOH, have a worse potential payout.

It isn't a risk if a conservative owes you money.
A liberal, on the other hand, would have a thousand excuses why life is unfair and how they were oppressed and how there's this biiiig gap between the rich and the poor and how maybe that twenty bucks they owe you is really better off staying in the liberal's pocket because they need a double shot of espresso in their Starbucks coffee.
As for me, I'd give you the twenty bucks if kerry wins - and just do without a half ounce of weed that week.

No, even if he lost he would want to take half of your money, since after allhe would spend it more compassionately than you.

No offense, but I don't really know you though. You're pretty new, and I haven't seen you debate in here before.
I'll do $20 with you, but I'm not willing to do $100 with a new person, because I am an honest person, and I will surely pay, if I did indeed lose. Blackgriffin did have a point about people not paying, and I would be kind of bummed if I got taken, if I did indeed win.
Are you willing to do $20 ?
We can seal the deal with a virtual handshake, if you agree to the $20. Deal ?

Before I agree to the $20, let me try to convince you to the $100. I've been registered under another name for about a year (see my sig). So, I'm not that new. It's true that I don't participate on the PL often but I do in the Lounge (and sometimes even on the help forums).
Still want to do just $20?

Yes, I do believe I remember seeing the name "soul searching" in the lounge before, though you're correct, you haven't been in the PL too much.
I'm fine with $ 50.00 in this case, if you are fine with.
If you are ok with this, post a pic of a handshake, and I will do the same, and we will have ourselves a friendly little wager, and we shall revisit this thread in Nov.

All right, deal. If Bush wins the 2004 Presidential election, I'll deposit $50 in a PayPal account that you specify. If Kerry wins the 2004 Presidential election, you'll deposit $50 in a PayPal account that I specify.
Per your previous request, a pic of a handshake:

You have a deal, and may the best man win.
My offer is now closed, since multiple betting will only multiply the chances of something going wrong.
PS - Spliffdaddy's $20 bet still stands open for anyone else who would like to take him up on that.

hey, Pac
After you win, request that the money be paid to the Paypal account of the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth. That'll hurt worse than giving you fifty bucks.
and yeah, I need a Kerry supporter to step up and match my $20 wager.
I'll even accept a non-US (foreigner) resident.

Yes, that would be like me paying the $ 50.00 to "friends of Michael Moore" or something like that.

Hahahahahaa .... nonsense. Liberals are the one who want give it away (higher taxes, remember ??). Conservatives are the ones who bitch and moan about every dime that gets taken out of their pockets. [stamps foot] Its not FAIR that I have to pay taxes, dammit !!! [/stamping]
Having said that ... I'd never take this wager. I give the Republicans at least 5% "cheat margin" for all the unaccountable electonic voting systems they're pushing and the thousands of people who will most likely be bogusly removed from the voting rolls.

If I lose the $50, where I deposit the money wont hurt any more one way or the other.
And I would take you up on your $20, but it'd be unselfish of me to not let others in on the fun.
Anyway, this should be fun

Actually I closed my PayPal account because they're a bunch of cheating, lying bastards. However, that's funny, because I never cover the Paypal fees when I sent my brother (a Republican) money, and he ALWAYS complained endlessly about it. Of course, he also used to charge me interest when I was 7 years old and we'd be $2 on baseball games...

No, the difference is, Spliff is talking about using HIS OWN MONEY, not trying to confiscate someone elses! Theres no one stopping any liberal from giving away their money to pay higher taxes RIGHT NOW! Go ahead, raise your own taxes: give back your tax return, and in addition cut the IRS an additional slice of your income of your own free will. Yeah, yeah, we know. Hell will host the winter games before that actually happens, but hey- you can always fall back on jaw-flapping about someone else having to pay more to pick up your slack. Thats the ticket!

Sokay. Its offset by at least a 10% Democrat "cheat margin" with dual-state registration voting, booze and cig squads, tossed military ballots, Chicago dead people, etc.

Instead of making others pay for their schemes, liberals should put their money where their mouths are and pay more themselves. Liberal love to characterize conservatives as selfish and heartless for not wanting to support a welfare state. Instead of sacrificially volunteering their time and money to assuage their guilty feelings, they force others to pay. That's the crux of socialism.

Yeah, in Massachussetts, one can check a box on their tax filing to voluntarily pay the higher rate. And guess who hasn't checked that box?
Hint: He's that state's junior Senator, and he has mansions and estates littered throughout the country.

Not gonna happen. I started betting pool for the release of the G5 and won, didn't see a penny. And that was only $1.

This is a stupid idea to begin with. One obvious problem is that just because someone supports Kerry doesn't mean that they're confident that he'll actually win.
And regardless, don't be so childish.
