I think by keeping it in "beta" stage, they have the freedom to change or try out new things without having to make huge announcements about what they are doing.
Imagine how much slack Microsoft would get if they called it "Microsoft Windows XP beta"...

If you want to post a link of the invitation, then send the invitation to yourself (and copy and paste the link). The alternative is to get an email address to send it to.
