B&W G3 upgraded to the hilt.

1 GHZ Sonnet G4 upgrade
1 Gig Ram(PC100 mind you)
128 MB Radeon 9200
160 GB Firewire HD(this would be the drive installed to)

Since there are reports of this running decently on ibooks and powerbooks, and this does meet and beat the specs(and I have a feeling the video card has a lot to do with it) I think this machine will run WOW at an ok clip, prolly have to turn the graphics down a tone but useable. What do you all think? Do you think this machine will run WOW ok? Or should I hold out until I can afford something else, yes I could run it on my Windows box but a mac MMORPG of this scale, I refuse to allow it to be run in my household on a windows box.

The great thing is - if you can run it on your PC then go ahead and buy the game. The CDs/DVDs contain the mac and pc versions, so you only need one box even if you want to install it on two machines! So you can buy the game, try it out on your g4 and if it's not good enough for you then you can resort to using the PC.

The problem with that upgrade is that it slows the system bus down to 66 MHz, so that makes an even worse bottleneck than the standard 100 MHz bus. If I ever get my replacment PowerLogix 1GHz G3 ZIF I could do some testing on my B&W.

Yea my 66 mhz bus would slow it down. I know it will run on my Windows Box but I use windows all day at work. I'd rather not support it anymore than I can. We'll see how well it runs as soon as I get it. I think it will run as good as a 1GHZ ibook on this B&W G3 upgraded. I hope.

I wish blizzard would release a performance tool like Square-enix did with FFXI, you could run it and see how well your computer would play the game. It was nice.
