We've been reading a lot lately that Apple can't keep up with demand for these crazy little devices. So, who's responsible for this madness? How many iPods do YOU own?

There wasn't a category for more than 4 so I voted 4. "Stop the madness" indeed, it should be the more the merrier

2, a 10 gb 3g and a 40gb ipod photo.
I'm thinking of installing os x in one. I'm psyched about finally having all my music fit on one.

What, have now, or have had in their history?
A lot of people sell their old ones on eBay when they get a new one or, as in my case, give them to relatives. "How Many iPods Do You Have?" implies that you keep them around!
Anyway, I've had three: 5 GB gen 1, 30 GB gen 3, 60 GB gen photo.

Now my sister wants to get one after Christmas of the same. So for now 1, but we'll have 2 soon.

Just got my wife an iPod mini for XMas (pink of course ) and now I want a regular iPod Going to wait till the holiday rush is over and Alpine's 2005 head units come out since they are rumored to have even better control over the iPod interface/adaptor.
For those that don't have an iPod yet all I can say is it's worth every penny... the ability to have your entire CDs collection will you at all times just ROCKS

Well I'm guilty (and now we're an all iPod family) of owning 3 personal iPod's - Original 5GB 1G, 15GB 3G and 40GB iPod photo. Got my wife hooked on a 15GB 3G and daughter is getting a 20GB 4G.
So 95GB of storage. Insane!!! But wouldn't be without an iPod.

One 40 gig 4g bought in August. My first one, I don't think it will be the last. But I might wait until the 120Gb iPod mini video camera before I replace this one.

I have one (15GB 3G). I think with the next major revision I may upgrade. I don't like the touch-sensitive buttons, but I don't think the 4G is enough to justify the upgrade yet. Mostly I'd like more storage. My music library is only about 8GB, but I use the other half to back up my documents folder, and would like to be able to add more to that. Sometimes my iPod goes crazy and makes bad clicking noises and won't mount or allow the software to be reinstalled, and then I start thinking about having to get a new one. But so far it always survives somehow.

One; 20GB 3G. Plenty of capacity for me at the moment (still about 7GB free).
Might buy the wife an iPod mini at some point, perhaps after the next capacity bump.

Does anyone react when they see someone elses ipod being used in a (bad) way that you wouldn't do? I have mine in a rubber iSkin case and try to keep it in a coat pocket or something, along with gloves or something for a bit more padding. I was on a train last month and someone pulled out a 20Gb 4g out of their jeans pocket, no case or cover of any kind, and was pressing stuff on it like it was an old piece of junk calculator or something. I was sitting there cringing at the sight of it.

Currently 3. Gen 3 10GB, 20GB and new 40GB iPod Photo.
But previously owned original Scroll Wheel 5GB, Touchwheel 10GB. To note, nothing went wrong, just sold and gave away to family.

I voted 2. I had a Gen II 10GB that I was very happy with. My mother wanted to buy it last summer. I was going to give it to her for Christmas.
When she went into the hospital I gave it to her a little early and upgraded to the iPod Photo 40GB. Now I found out that she's going to die I wish I gave it to her last summer. :-(
She told me to sell it on e-bay after she dies. :-( :-( :-(

Sorry to hear about that. I would keep it as something to remember your mother by.

I saw a (Creative?) version of the iPod yesterday. It had full motion video similar to the Media Center PCs. It was kinda cool, but it was HUGE. I can't imagine jogging with the thing or even carrying it around. (Unless you are one of the types that like jogging with a Brick!)
Also: In spite of the coolness I couldn't see watching a movie on such a small screen.
I only say this because after seeing such an "interesting" solution, the elegance of the iPod really becomes apparent.

1 iPod Photo 60GB
...and you might not believe this, but it's already full to the brim. Less than 1GB free. Bummer.
Filled mainly with 150 CDs encoded with Apple Lossless. Those are my very favourite CDs which I listened to so often that I do hear a difference between Lossless encoding and even very high bitrate AAC. At least I like to think I hear a difference.
Those 150CDs used up 43GB.
The rest is filled with another 150CDs encoded at 192kbps AAC, which I also tend to think sound better than the 128kbps AAC Apple uses at the iTunes Music Store.
These other 150 CDs used up another 11GB. (The 60GB iPod Photo has only a capacity of 55GB formatted.)
Where's that 200GB iPod when you need it...
And yes, I'm serious! Because then I could have my whole CD collection encoded in Apple Lossless on one single iPod.
But I thought better 300 CDs now than my whole collection in 5-10 years when iPods finally hit 200GB...
This is my first iPod. The others were all too small in capacity.
