If I want to set up a web counter on an local intranet what do I need? I cannot use an external service to count the hits for me (not a option). Where should I start?

Any Advice would be great.

What scripting options do you have on the web server? PHP, ASP, JSP, etc...?

how complex a counter do you want?

For a quick and simple solution: have each page load a specific picture file (gif/jpg). Then simply check the logs and it will give a count of how many times each page was viewed per month, per year, etc.
