I am thinking about getting a sub to MacWorld. One year for 19.97 is the cheapest I have seen it... Anyone have a better deal?
Also, have any of you read MacHome? Is it any good?

MacWorld was giving away free subscriptions. I got like 14 months for free. Not much news in it. MacAddict is a little better.

I have subscriptions to both Macworld and MacAddict, not sure how good MacHome is though... since I don't get that. I like MacAddict a little better than Macworld.

I used to read MacWorld, but now I find it's just an ad fest. MacAddict has good Tutorial and Tips & Tricks but the news are always outdated compared to what you can find on the Net.

I got the free MacWorld subscription (thanks to this forum). It's nothing special, and really all magazines are dated. Makes good toilet reading though.
I get all my news, tips etc from the web (here, macosxhints, and a myriad of others).

For editorial content (news is easy to find on the web,) I like MacWorld best. But MacHome is a close second, and for new Mac users it's probably better.
MacWorld on the web (all reviews, most articles:)
Macworld
Macworld subscription for just 15 bucks a year
Subscribe to Machome for $1.83 a magazine.
Note: I have never used magazinepricesearch.com before.
Tips:
Mac OS X Hints - My favorite!
Views:
Daring Fireball - GREAT blog! Worth the $20 subscription fee (not mandatory, though.)
Applelinks - Also a news site. Great Charles Moore articles.
Low End Mac - Even with a mid-range Mac this site's editorial commentary by Dan Knight, Charles Moore, and others is superb. I donated.
News:
MacMinute - One of the better byte-sized news sites.
MacNN - Nice, but no offense, MacNN, I prefer MacMinute.
MacCentral - Longer news bytes and generally inferior.
MacSurfer - Great news and views links site. No original content.
MacRumors - Spot-on rumors + the latest Apple product releases. A companion site, MacBytes, has news.

I looked around but didn't see a free subscription anywhere. I guess that promo is over. I did see an offer for one free issue, but that's not as fun. I haven't subscribed to anything yet. So far I've been checking out the UK published magazines at Borders. I like them but those are way too much money, imo.
Is that MacWorld offer still valid anywhere?

Here's what you do: find a magazine and cut out all the articles, leaving just the ads. Now you have Macworld Magazine.

Mac magazines are cool, but a waste of money since all the information can be gotten free off the interweb in one way or another (way).

Yes but I don't like taking my PowerBook with me to the bathroom.

That's why I got it as well. Wouldn't pay for it.

MacDirectory.com is fairly good. Much more editorials, interviews, culture, and vaguely mac related stuff. Considerably classier than other mac mags.
Macworld ceased to be even slightly decent years ago.

The print publications have a depth and professionalism for things like product reviews, and in that regard they have no comparable online counterparts. But for everything else Mac sites are far better, especially news. There is no way for a monthly magazine to compete with instant online publications. Some of the magazine tutorials are good, too.
