I have a 15" Powerbook running MacOS X 10.3.8. A week ago I installed MySQL and launched it like the documentation said. Everything work as it should except I had problems connecting to it with CocoaMySQL so I deleted the MySQL installation.
Now I read that CocoaMySQL didn't work because the new MySQL version is using a newer authentication code which CocoaMySQL doesn't support. There is a new version of CocoaMySQL that does support it so I reinstalled MySQL again but when I try to launch it with this command:
sudo ./mysqld_safe
I get this:
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /usr/local/mysql/data
STOPPING server from pid file /usr/local/mysql/data/powerbook.local.pid
050218 02:45:40 mysqld ended
Why will it not launch mysqld? Is there something still from the old mysql installation that I need to delete? I deleted all the mysqld files in /usr/local/ folder.
