Ok, before I ask away, I just tried searching for this topic and found nothing, so if this topic is already in effect. Please post a link.

My question is;
Besides Crucial.com where else and how great of a quality would you get if you bought 1GB stick for the Mac Mini. Im looking to get a cheaper stick instead of crucial's $219.

I KNOW ALREADY THAT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Crucial is the cheapest and has very high quality. Is there another site, company?
Something close but cheaper?

If you upgraded to 1GB and didn't get it from Crucial, tell me where you bought yours and how much did you pay for it? Also, how is it working out for you? Does it feel like a gb? or does it feel like a high quality 512mb?

I got this: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...141-166&depa=0

Works fine. I didn't make either of those reviews on there saying it works with the Mac Mini.

How much of a difference does it provide for you? How is it compared to Multitasking and Video editing? Thats one of my main concerns on the Mac Mini.

I bought this instead:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...141-198&depa=1

It's also from PQI but is PC3200 instead of PC2700. Even though the mini will not take advantage of the faster RAM, you can substitute PC3200 fo PC2700. The 256MB that came with the mini was PC3200.

I've had no problems with this RAM in the mini and from the comments apparently other peopel have bought if for mini's also...

I'm not sure how to answer your other question except to say I think it's worth it go for a gig of RAM versus 512MB....

I went to Fry's and picked up a 1gb PC3200 stick for $149. I've had it in my 1.42 mini for about a week now and it runs fine. Made a world of difference playing WOW. Overall it's MUCH snappier than it was with 128 or even 512. The brand was Legacy Electronics, which I believe is their house brand, so it can come from different manufacturers, but I've had good luck with it in the past.

The mini only requires PC2700 so either one should be fine. I went with the PC3200 because they were essentially the same price and if I ever wanted to take the RAM out of the mini and put it in another computer, the PC3200 is somewhat more likely to be usable. The G5s, for example, require PC3200 so the PC2700 would not be usable. Or if 2 gig modules come down in proce and I replace the 1 gig, it would be easier to sell the PC3200...

I bought 1 GB of PC3200 CL3 ADATA RAM from Wonder City in Akihabara, Tokyo, for 16,900 yen or about $158 and it works fine. PC2700 was the same price so I got the higher spec just in case it ever has to be moved to a G5 for some reason. The pulled RAM was Hynix PC3200 CL3.
Just for comparison, Apple Store Ginza wants 39,800 yen for the same 1 GB--the profiteering thieves.
But it is not just ASG that is doing this, go to Sofmap or Akibakan where they sell macs and PCs on different floors and the RAM for Mac with identical spec to the PC RAM is always priced 25% higher. People in our MUG have learned not get mugged by these places and just buy on the PC floors instead.
