Well, thanks for all the help assholes. No, really. Thanks for telling me it's overclocked even though there's nothing on the net about overclocking mac video cards... seriously, WHAT A HELP!

Anyway, I think I figured out what's wrong. The thermal compound is all crappy, so I'm cleaning it off and applying some new stuff.

The only ass is you. As far as the card being overclocked, I don't recall anyone claiming it was. The term overheating came up but no one said your card was overclocked.

Oh, and FYI, new artic silver thermal compound didn't help. The heatsink is still lukewarm, but on the bottom of the card (behind the chip) it's BLAZING hot. I have no idea what's wrong with it.

Since you got your refund put the money toward a different card. I know CompUSA had a blowout sale on the GF4Tis a few weeks ago for $80 a pop. So I'm guessing there will be quite a few brand new working cards on ebay now. Or you can go for the ol retail ATI/DVI->ADC connector route and get something with Fragment Program support.

I saw that on DealMac, too. I just bought one in one of the Atlanta stores yesterday for $50. Ca$h, you may want to check CompUSA's website for availability near you. I had to drive four hours, but at $50, it was too good of a deal to pass.

ok ... I have a G5 w/ a 20" Cinema Display ... I upgraded to an nVidea 6800 GT DDL ... the Display is an ADC; the card is a DVI; I had to buy a ADC to DVI adapter (another $125) ... it works great!

CompUSA fell through. Assholes had my money for almost a month, then refunded me. Dicks. Anyone have any good deals on a geforce 4 ti? I need a card that can do dual DVI out, but preferably one would be ADC, since both my LCDs are ACD.
