I finally purchased one. It's cool because it's always being updated with new music.

I don't want to make this a PSP thread.
but, I'm warming up to that thing... I only wish I had a great paying job so I could slop down the greenbacks for that little toy.
I'd really love to get a 30" flast panel from Apple as well, and that iPod, and...

Sommelier's corkscrew (much better than even the double lever type)
Bicycle odometer/speedometer (gotta have data!)
Any GPS device that actually saves waypoints (just mapping or giving directions is ok, but I like to be able to designate a spot and be able to get back there)
Camelbacks (hydrate or die!-couldn't have said it better myself)
USB Flash Drives (particularly the tiny ones)
I don't consider most computers "gadgets" since they are of fairly general use, while a gadget to me is a special purpose device. I mean how many uses are there for that gizmo you get for screwing in golf spikes? Um...screwing in golf spikes...Oh! And scraping mud...off your golf spikes. Right.
I didn't include things like download docks for digital cameras because they are tied to a spot or function. And compact florescent lamps (as replacements for incandescent lamps) are just too smart to be "gadgets."

I'm not going to count computers but if I did, my PowerBook would be No. 1.
1) Cell phone (Nokia 6630).
2) iPod (60GB photo and 1GB shuffle).
3) Digital camera (Canon 3.2 iXus right now, upgrading to at least a 5 in the coming weeks).
4) Retractable dog leash (Nuff said).
5) GPS (Don't own one yet but when I went to visit my folks a few weeks ago, the rental car was a sweet Volvo S80 with GPS. It was amazingly accurate and helpful)

Actually replace the feet with your ears and eyes, cause you don't need them to play with most gadgets. Most are hand held.

But how will you get said gadgets if you do not have these feets to carry you to them?

Actually I saw a thing on Ripley's Believe it or not about a lady who had no legs at all and she just used her arms to walk. She even got married and had children.

It's definitely the worst of the iPods, but it is still an iPod, and better than most other players. I have one too, and absolutely HATE the buttons so it stays in my glove box 99% of the time and plays thru the car radio. I much prefer using the Shuffle over the regular iPod now.

Might as well post my faves, too. Not counting computers/laptops since they're more than just gadgets:
5. Imperial keychain knife
4. digital cameras
3. BMW iPod adapter
2. iPod
1. Treo 600
I don't know what I'd do without my Treo. I might get a 650 one of these days, but my 600 has been so good I don't want to part with it.

Sorry, I can't just dish out $300 every time Apple makes a new one. Im only 17, I don't get paid enough for that. Plus I have gas to pay for, 13 miles per gallon, remember?

Okay, you people are all waaaay too tech-oriented, plus most of you are too young to have a good perspective on this whole issue.
The best damn gadget of the past century is the pop-top can.
Before the pop-top (and it is a gadget), you needed a church key to open a canned beverage.
Do you have any remote idea how fscking frustrating it was to have a six-pack, or even a case, of cold beers, and no way to open them?!?

I agree that people are way too tech-oriented, but come on. The lever is by far the coolest gadget, with the pulley coming in close second. I don't know if the wheel could really be considered a gadget, though. It would be first, no doubt.

#5 Segway.... I don't have one, but got to ride one once. Wow! Little big for a "gadget" but the cool factor is through the roof.
#4 My Microwave. Honestly, life would take a lot longer without it.
#3 My cell phone. Used to hate the idea of getting one. 5 years ago I got one and never looked back.
#2 My 1GB USB Lexar Jump Drive. Tiny, perfect.
#1 Hands down, my Leatherman wave. Best. Gift. Ever. Use it everyday for some reason.
