Good news... after one truly pathetic attempt last week and a retest at 0930 this morning, I now have a driver's license!
I passed!

Congrats!
Even though the thought that there actually are people who fail a driver's test in the US (of all places) is just a tad bit alarming ...

Stop it! Don't tell me that kind of stuff!!
I'll have to go back to the US soon - no need to scare the doo-doo outta me ...
(keep in mind - I am > 96% kidding and only < 4% serious)

Mwahaha. Apply German DL standards and you had a fail rate of 95%.

My parents failed on the first attempt and my dad even more so.
We weren't familiar with the area and they were over 50s.. so the examiner just gave them hard time.
I think teens are more likely to get their driver licenses on their first attempt.

I'm sure all the people who live in your vicinity feel much safer knowing that another young person has the ability to drive a 3,000 pound vehicle...
eegads...

There is no such thing as a "safe" 16-17 year old driver IMHO. At that age, your coordination is horrible (even worse then when you were 13-14 years old). You are easily distracted and have a high probability of making poor decisions when faced with an emergency. Younger drivers also have a difficult time judging speed and have no reference for ever changing road conditions.
Im not saying YOU are a bad driver, Im just saying younger drivers are high risk.

The drivers exam was a piece of cake.
My private pilot exam was a cakewalk also.
Then came the intrument rating.
The commercial exam, the examiner tried to see if he could make me puke.
I waited until I got home to puke. And puke some more.
ATP was a LONG written test.

Congrats! I wish I had time (and a little more money to put to it wouldn't hurt) to get more driving practice, unfortunately college + school stuff is waaaay up there! Right now I'm doing some insane amount of work a week (if it was straight off college it'd count as what, 15 units?) -- and then I get to do more for 6 weeks in the summer!
Oh well, after that I'm free to get my license and we can finally get the hell outta here. :]

I failed twice. The first time the emergency brake was on, but I told her the light was broken. She failed me cuz she had to remind me to turn off the ebrake... even thought it was just the light.
I failed the second time (same lady) cuz an SUV in front of me stopped at a green light and I had to stop suddenly, then I made my turn. She failed me cuz she said I was suppose to keep going when turning at a green light because traffic behind me is expecting me to keep going. I explained to her that if I had kept going I woulda hit the SUV who stopped.
The third time I asked for a different DMV person, and I passed.

How about 271 failures?
SEOUL (Reuters) - The motto for one would-be South Korean driver likely is "if at first you don't succeed, then try, try again another 271 times."
Seo Sang-moon passed the academic part of his driver's license examination on his 272nd attempt earlier this week.
