Stayed up late so I could download With Teeth off iTunes. Listening to it now. (They added a bunch of NIN on iTunes. The Fragile is now broken up into two albums, not just left and right.

Track 1, It's a less dark, lots of piano so far. Trent is still pissed off. Poor guy. Somebody really should give him a hug.

Wow, just got to track 2, it's like speed metal Trent. Real drums. Heavy guitars ala Broken. So far this is like a mishmash of PHM, Broken and the Fragile. More piano at the end.

Track 3, more live instruments. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Figured I'd start a thread, since I haven't in forever.

Ditto. I also wonder if there's any way to see how the GarageBand release experiment fared.

How about listening to some of the 300+ fan made remixes in MP3 format?

Thanks for the link. I've played around with the track some but haven't had the time to do some serious dissection on it.

I've listened to four tracks so far.

I'm terribly sorry to say... I don't like it.

Maybe it'll grow on me.

Same here. It is in SACD, isn't it?

Bought. Listening now. Three tracks in. I like it. The 30-second preview of "Getting Smaller" clinched it for me.

here is my post from the previous thread:

i know we are all zealots (mac), but this album is less than impressive. i wish i could say that it was innovative or exciting in any way, but i cannot. there are a few songs that stand out and i appreciate them. i am glad i gave it an early a listen or 3 because i would've been pissed if i'd dropped money for it. as i listened i kept waiting to really get into a song or be blown away like i was in the past, but there was none of that. hell, "only" starts out like "electric ave." "getting smaller" is good and there are a couple of others. all in all a real let down. too bad.
if you are looking for a good new release check out the new gorillaz or new quasimoto.

Do you guys think this let down may be because of the hype before hand?
Who reads this???

This cd is crap. Crap, crap, and more crap. People have got to be pushing themselves to like it because it has Trent's name stamped on it. It is however, utterly horrible. Go away trent, and come back when you have something actually worth listening to.

I agree. I don't like it. 'Course, I'm not a big Trent fan but I don't get what the hype is all about...

The cd is amazing. I love it, i've been listening to it for a little bit longer now (I did buy it today though) and the while at first I didn't like it, I love it now.

Just takes a few listens to get into. Trust me.

I really enjoy it so far. I've about six listens in. It only took one go for me to really like it. But yeah, the man needs a hug.

well being a fan since 1988, my judgement : this was really a pathetic album !

it's a parody, a caricature of everything they ever released. it just sounds too familiar and without imagination or originality. exit NIN for me well actually i was already after that doublealbum i once bought but didn't even finish listening to. With teeth I downloaded as mp3, just to see if nything had improved..

edit : lets go deeper : i suspect T. Reznor from selling his good songs to M. Manson, because producing several artists makes so much more money than releasing someting of your own. Let's just wait for the 10 "With Teeth" spin off-remixes that he can mix in a microsecond.

And I don't like the title "with teeth' either. it should be "songs made by a content producer who has no problems anymore".

It seems like a Muzak version of what you would expect their album to sound like. A lot of the songs just never really get started.
Definately underwhelming.

this is certainly not a disappointment because of a hype beforehand : i didn't learn about this album a week before it's release. I just don't care that much about industrial anymore. the people who walk away with NIN now are people i can't identify with anyway. NIN was really impressive twenty years ago and had it's height at 1994 as far as i am concerned (woodstock) after that it became too much of the same old depressing lyrics and twisted samples.
