hi.

i want to get an external hd for my mac (see signature) and i want to get a 40gb, 60gb or 80gb but i dont need it to be mobile and i need it to be really cheap. i dont know what to get though cuz i thought i had firewire but its ethernet and i dont think my usb will be fast enough as i think ive got usb1.1. can anyone help me pick or give me advice?

would it be more easier backing up everything and buying a internal hd?

cheers, kick52

Your only option is to get a usb drive. Dont worry about speed, you cant do much about that without a machine upgrade anyway. A dual connection drive might be a good choice so you'll be able to plug into a FW port and boot from it, come any future newer machines in your life!
