Recently I have bought a 2nd. HD for my G5 1.8 (sp) MAXTOR SATA 250 gb. and I used like my principal disk and the original Apple HD (seagate 160 gb SATA) like back up disk (with out OS ) .... But when I shut down my mac at the night, the next morning, the Back Up HD in not present on my desk... if I restard my G5 the disk appears again... Please help me, I know that the 2 HD are working perfectly... is not a HD problem... is a G5 problem... how can I fix this ?

THANKS !!!!

I've had the same problem happen to me. Come to find out it was a bad power cable to the 2nd HD. Hope you have AppleCare 'cause I didn't and it cost me over $500.00 to repair! They had to replace the whole external computer case since the power cable runs through it somehow...GOOD LUCK!

I wondered what you were supposed to do to replace those wire since in the manual it says you have to cut the connector off the end of it with a pair of pliers. that's not a very good design the same with the airport antenna wire in the old G4 towers, it says you basically have to replace the entire case if you damage that thing. what?!
