I just realized that I have tonight free, so I thought "hey, I'll install Tiger on my computers". Only problem is that I don't have Tiger. Surely I can pick one up at the many techno-stores by me, right? Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples, one of these has got to carry Tiger.

Nope. And I can't make the closest Apple store, which is 45 minutes away, before they close. Yeah, yeah, yeah... I should have already purchased it online, but I didn't. Panther's been fine for the most part, so there wasn't a rush.

I'm just amazed that Apple thinks its a player, and yet a dude like me can't just run out and grab a copy of Tiger.

dunno where in jersey you are, but there's always NYC. Tekserve, B&H, J&R, and, of course, the Apple Store should all have that. might not have too much luck tonight, though... i'm surprised there's not a 24 hour computer store out there for all the insomniac computer geeks.

I'm sure I'd hit a late night computer store a couple of times a year.

I'm by the shore (Red Bank area)... 45 minutes from Edison, which is the closest Apple store. There is a CompUSA in Freehold that I could get to in 40-45 minutes, but they closed 30 minutes before the Apple store did.

It was just frustrating because I wasn't expecting to have the block of free time... and it was just perfect for jamming tunes, moving files around, and doing clean installs on my 2 machines.

Oh well. Instead, I ran to Best Buy and bought a Vaio and a Rio.

This is the worst case of impatience I have ever seen. Are you saying you bought a new computer and MP3 player because you couldn't wait for a copy of Tiger to be delivered to your door overnight?

Wow. Just.... wow.

Yes, I was being sarcastic. But I did see an XP box at 7-11 that looked tempting.

From now on, all uses of sarcasm must be followed by the [/SARCASM] tags so those of use who appear to be a bit thickheaded will not have difficulties in the future. Your cooperation is appreciated. Have a good day.

You can find Mac mini and iPods in BestBuy, but not Apple-brand software. I remember that I picked up a copy of Mac OS 8 in COMPUSA.

Yeah, that's weird to me... that they carry Apple computers, but not the latest OS.

Where you being "sarcastic" in this post? I know [/SARCSM] was in the middle of it, but I'm just making sure because I care so much, and am interested in every little thing you have to say in a thread, because you are sooooo important around here.

I've never seen Apple computers at a BestBuy. iPods, yes, but not computers.

Further, note that Tiger has been very popular, and there are a lot of places that have sold out and not gotten more copies (they apparently didn't think they'd have the demand they did).

And it seems a little obsessive to decide one evening to install a new OS on your computers without at least having a copy on hand. Perhaps deciding "I'll see if I can pick up a copy of Tiger this evening" wouldn't be as obsessive, but deciding to install it before you had a copy...

Really? eMacs and iMacs... they even have them on their website.

Further, note that Tiger has been very popular, and there are a lot of places that have sold out and not gotten more copies (they apparently didn't think they'd have the demand they did).
The stores I mentioned flat-out do not carry Tiger, hence the gripe about distribution.

And it seems a little obsessive to decide one evening to install a new OS on your computers without at least having a copy on hand. Perhaps deciding "I'll see if I can pick up a copy of Tiger this evening" wouldn't be as obsessive, but deciding to install it before you had a copy...
The actual decision was that if I could get a copy of Tiger before the stores closed, I'd buy it and install it later in the evening.

no fully but ive cut it from a pack a day to less then 5 a day. Hoping to have it totally kicked in the next couple days. Its to hard to quit on a work week, but now that I have 2 days off if I can manage that then I should be good for the next work week. But im trying. Cant afford a 300 a month habit.
