Well kiddies, i've been in hiding for along time, but came out to play tonight to just say hi and i'm posting from a new machine.

I had a Rev A 12" Powerbook that decided yesterday to burn a hole in the graphics card and burn afew transistors. Being the poor college student that I am, and needing a machine, i made a call to my bank and put in for a loan.

Almost 12 hours later, here I am laying with this beautiful laptop.
The speed is excellent (i'm a Graphic Artist, and Musician and need all the horsepower i can get!)

So this was a HUGE upgrade for me...just check it out below

867Mhz --> 1.67Ghz
Combo Drive --> 8x Superdrive
60Gig HDD--> 100Gig HDD
1024x768 -->1400x900 (PRICELESS AS A DESIGNER THIS IS A MUST)
32Mb VRAM--> 128mb Vram
USB1--> USB2
Bluetooth--> Bluetooth 2.0

so i'll post some picture when i get my new desk in order (new apartment)
feels good to post form a new mac, and be excited again about a machine as beautiful as this.

Congrats. I hope you didn't handicap the PB by not getting enough ram.

One gig? Put the 512 in it on Ebay after you buy 2 x 1 gig sticks.

Oh yeah.

If you run Photoslop and any other proggie, you gonna notice it.
I only have 1 gig and am contemplating an upgrade big time***

My setup:

Rev. A. 17" Powerbook
1 gig Ram

Running a bunch of proggies that eat up Ram.

--

I'd like to have your setup with 2 gigs Ram. Nice.

***Edit: Of course I can't afford it right now but one can dream. I'm quite happy with my 2.3 year old 17" that has served me faithfully and (knock on wood) will keep on truckin for a long time to come.

Yes, especially if you are going to do any kind of design work or music stuff. I just went from 1.5 to 2GB on my PB17 (1.5Ghz model) and I find even that has made things snappier.

At 512, you're running the bare minimum for Tiger. Kinda like buying a Ferrari and locking it into first gear.
