I am ready to upgrade my 4 year old PC to a new PowerMac. Should I wait until the Intel switch? I plan on keeping the computer for 4 to 5 years. I am in no hurry, but really like Macs and want to make the complete switch (I have a Mac Mini). Any suggestions would be appericated.

I wouldn't wait for the Intel switch, but I would wait for the Oct. 19 announcement. New PPC models are expected then.

Welcome! I very much agree with intake. The October 19th announcement is expected to bring Dual Core PowerMacs with DDR2 memory and PCI Express video cards. It should be worth the wait.

My biggest concern is about software. Will I be unable to buy new software in 3 or 4 years? I know it is a stupid question, but I would like some feedback. Thanks.

Why would you not be able to buy software? The PowerPC user base is going to outnumber the Intel user base probably into the next decade, especially if Intel Power Macs don't ship until 2007 or later.
