OK, I decided to get the new iPod, even though all i have is US 1.1 (the speeds aren't too bad by the way, only about 30-40 seconds for the new Depeche Mode album). I do have one question about it. When I have the iPod connected and I am in iTunes, I click on preferences, and go to the video button, but I am unable to switch the preferences in the video button. It lists update automatically and update manually from which playlists but they are all grayed out, even the option to click where it says "Do not update videos" is grayed out. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
I love the new iPod, it is replacing a 3G iPod (which my wife has now) and I love the color screen and the photo options which I did not have with the earlier model.
Thanks for any response!

Are you running iTunes 6?
This could be a limitation set on USB 1.1 connections.

Can you post a screenshot of the preference pane with the video option?
I would love to find out that I can sync the videos to my ipod and them move them from my powerbook to a backup drive, yet still have my music sync automatically.
Thanks,

Yes I have iTunes 6. I can copy the video over by dragging it and it copies it and moves it to the video folder, but the option thing is weird. Will post a screen shot soon.

OK, here is a screen shot of the video prefs:
As you can see, everything is grayed out.
The booklet that comes with the iPod says, and I quote:
" Step 3: Download Music and Charge the Battery
Connect iPod to a USB port on your computer using the included cable
NOTE USB 2.0 is recommended. The port on your keyboard doesn't provide enough power; don't us it to connect your iPod."
So it doesn't say anything about a limitation of no video if using USB 1.1.
Any other ideas?
Can I delete the iTunes prefs?
Thanks

I can tell you its not because of USB 1.1, I have the same issue using my Mac Mini.

This might sound bizarre, but do you have your iPod set up to automatically update either all your music or your select music playlists?
I noticed the same thing when I initially purchased my iPod (prior to loading it with music), and found that once I enabled it to either automatically update all my songs or selected playlists that the video menu worked properly. It doesn't make much sense though, because I could understand some people wanting to manually update all their music, yet wanting to automatically update their video-related playlists. iTunes is able to decipher which playlists contain videos, so I don't see a problem with it.
Anyway, let me know if this works.

I'm having this same problem. In fact, I can't copy any video over to the ipod at all. Can anyone explain how you go about copying the video to the iPod? I've got video in iTunes, but it doesn't copy when I drag it over.

Nevermind. I'm an idiot. It helps if you transfer over files the iPod can play, and not mpeg-1 video.
