I'm traveling to Thailand, staying in Bangkok for 7 nights. Any tips on nice places for sightseeing?

Patpong....

Bangkok's main night life area.

And if it's sex your after there is plenty on offer, so be warned.

They will also try and get you to visit the Pussy Ping Pong shows!

I stayed well clear of both of the above, and just went to some of the bars.

Also, there is a night market in Bangkok where they have a live band, and food hall. I would highly recommend this area.

- Shopping:
Suan Lam Night Market. Great from 5pm - 11pm.
Central Plaza
- Buddhist Temples
- Grand Palace
- Cheap food. 1 meal = ~$2 - $3
- Taxi = $2 - $4 for a nice ride
- Air pollution & traffic is high
- If you have a GSM type cell phone, you can bring it and have it unlocked for $5 @ Central Plaza. Then you can make phone calls anywhere you want (hotel, hospital, etc).

- Buddhist Temples
- The SkyTrain
- Lumpini ThaiBoxing Stadium
- Lumpini/Suan Luam Night Market
- Ko-San Road (very touristy!, but fun for a night or two)
- The Royal Palace

...

Beware of TukTuk drivers who offer to drive you around for cheap. They'll most likely drop you off at some diamond "shop" where people will try to con you into buying something.

If you take public transport, always tell the drivers what you want to pay for the ride and where you want to go.

Bangkok is a great place. 'Had tons of fun there last April.

If I change my way of living, and if I pave my streets with good times, will the mountain keep on giving…

The Chinatown is pretty cool, also.

Oh and definitely take a tuk tuk ride (maybe to Patpong if you end up going) they're pretty darn fun!

Patpong, mind you, is pretty seedy, but might be worth checking out ( I did, with a friends just because - eye opening, to say the least. ).

It's a neat city, to be sure.

Cool, I'm going to bangkok in about 30min.

Come on though, don't submit to the sex girls... you will regret it the next time you get a bloodtest

(ps) my first time there too, looking forward to the shopping, I think. Oh and the temples, can't miss those temples.
